Moreland says No to the East-West Tunnel - 1pm, Sunday 30 March 2014

  • Corner of Wilson Avenue and Sydney road, Brunswick
  • Assemble cnr Wilson Avenue & Sydney Road, Brunswick (opposite Barkly Square) for speakers then march up Sydney Road to Warr Park on Albion Street, Brunswick.
  • If coming by public transport from the city, catch the #19 tram from Elizabeth Street, or catch a train on the Upfield Line to Jewell Station.

Join the rest of the Moreland community for a rally and march to show our opposition to the east west tunnel, and in favour in better public transport.

Assemble at the corner of Wilson avenue and Sydney road (opposite Barkly Square Shopping Centre) for a rally featuring speakers from the local community. This will be followed by a loud, colourful and vibrant march up Sydney road to Warr park.

We invite all Moreland community groups, sports clubs and organisations to endorse this rally and to organise a contingent on the day. To endorse this event send a message to Mcat.

We extend our hand out to all residents and groups outside of Moreland who will be affected by this project, and invite them top join us on the day.

The community united can defeat this project and force the government to provide us with better public transport!

This rally is organised by Moreland Community Against the Tunnel (MCAT) and has the support of the Moreland Council.
MCAT meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 6:30pm. Temple Park Senior Citizens Centre.

Car parking near the site of the rally on Sunday will be limited so is best to come by public transport or by bike. The map below shows where the council carpark is located on Edward Street, Brunswick. If you’re coming by train, catch a train on the Upfield Line and get off at Jewell Station. If you’re coming by tram from the city, get off at the first stop after Brunswick Road.
