The Empire Strikes Back – Public Information Displays on the East West Link & Glossy Tabloids

Ycat Information Table at the Abbotsford Convent, 25 May 2013

Currently, the Linking Melbourne Authority is letter boxing an 8-page colour propaganda tabloid – East West Link News – to residents in Moreland.

The Linking Melbourne Authority, the responsible authority for the planning and construction of the East West Road Link, is also conducting a series 4  “public information displays on the East West Link” on 1, 2, 3 and 6 June 2013.

This is a real opportunity to go along and yet our message across – the community demands trains not Tollroads.  Remember if the road proceeds there will be no Doncaster Rail down the Eastern Freeway which is the most financially viable route.

Our first series of information tables last week, held across the city of Yarra, were a great success and an  indication of the overwhelming community opposition to the proposed East West Tollroad/Tunnel Link.

Again, Ycat in conjunction with a coalition of community organisations and the Yarra Council’s “Trains Not Tollroads Campaign” are holding information stalls outside these venues to promote the official launch of the “Trains Not Toll Roads Campaign” at 6:30 pm on Thursday 13 June at Fitzroy Town Hall.

The information table locations are as follows:

Saturday 1 June 11 am to 3 pm at St Brendan’s Hall, corner of Church and High Streets Flemington.  Melways Map: 29 12A.

Sunday 2 June 11 am to 3 pm at Collingwood Masonic Hall 141 Gipps Street, Collingwood.  Melways Map 2C H1.1

Monday 3 June 5 pm to 8 pm at St Michael’s Parish Hall, 14 Mc Ilwraith Street, North Carlton Melways Map 29 J12

Thursday 6 June 5 pm to 8 pm at  the State Netball and Hockey Centre, Brens Drive, Royal Park.  Melways Map Reference: 29 12D

Remember the object of these information stalls is to promote the public launch of “Trains Not Toll Roads Campaign” at 6:30 pm on Thursday 13 June at Fitzroy Town Hall.

 Cheers, freda (Ycat)
