Community Angered at shameful behaviour from State Liberals as Nathine uses Bolte Bridge crash as evidence of the need for east-west link

Premier Denis Napthine said the Bolte Bridge crash highlighted the need for an east-west link and the project’s long-awaited business case was 99.9 per cent complete…

He repeated his calls for the federal government to contribute $1.5 billion for the proposed road, saying its assistance would speed up its delivery.

Federal Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese – who was in Melbourne reiterating the Gillard government’s support and $3 billion commitment for the Melbourne Metro rail tunnel – said the government needed to see a business case for the road.

Dr Napthine said the business case would be delivered by June 30.

  1. chrisg says:

This shamefull line of argument was first used by Brian Negus of the RACV (City Car park owner , insurance giant and pawn of the road lobby). He used the same argument after a fatal crash affecting the Burnley Tunnel.

That Napthine stoops to these depths is a worry.
Next the Tunnel will be promoted as an anti-terrorist measure – no wait, Brumby already did that.

The issue they wish to hide is that their misdirection of funds from public to private transport will only exacerbate Melbourne’s car and truck dependence.
