The Age: Andrews government defies order to release East West Link contract. 12 Febraury 2015
The Andrews government is defying an upper house order to release the contract for the East West Link by noon on Thursday.
The Coalition, the Greens and four crossbench MPs have combined to use their upper house clout to pass a motion ordering Labor to table the highly sensitive contract.
Despite promising to release the contract on the first Monday after the election, so far Labor has refused as it continues to negotiate with the consortium to find a way out of the $6.8 billion project it promised to dump.
Treasurer Tim Pallas confirmed that Labor would not be complying with the order, raising the possibility that the government’s leader in the upper house, Gavin Jennings, could be censured or suspended. More in link.
