Sourceable: East West Link design team appointed. 23 October 2014
Hyder and Parsons Brinckerhoff have been appointed as the design team for the $6.8bn East West Link.
Hyder and Parsons Brinckerhoff in a 50/50 joint venture are providing detailed design and construction phase support services for the eastern section (Stage 1) for the East West Connect consortium.
East West Link Stage 1 is a 6.6km, three-lane road connecting the Eastern Freeway and CityLink, the majority of which will be underground in a twin tunnels.
The project will deliver:
new tolled motorway link between Hoddle Street and CityLin
access via CityLink to M1 Port of Melbourne, Melbourne Airport and M80/Hume Freeway
Eastern Freeway upgrades
managed motorways
CBD-oriented public transport enhancements
Bicycle network improvements.
Together with the proposed western section, the completed East West Link will form an 18 kilometre cross-city connection extending across Melbourne from the Eastern Freeway to the Western Ring Road.
Robert Woodall, Project Director for the Hyder Parsons Brinckerhoff Joint Venture said the team are pleased to be delivering design services for the East West Project – that seeks to dramatically improve the way people and goods travel across Melbourne.
