Sky News: Employers call for business cost cuts. Monday February 24, 2014
Victoria should complete the first stage of the East West Link and lower business costs to create jobs, the state’s peak employer body says.
In its submission to the upcoming state budget, the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry says growth-friendly policies are needed to help stimulate business growth, investment and jobs.
VECCI says the state must capitalise on its strengths in established industries, as well as cut the cost of doing business to foster new industries and jobs.
VECCI boss Mark Stone says as the state meets challenges and strong international competition, it must also strive for a smarter, more productive workforce achieved through training and education and backed by infrastructure that helps lift productivity.
The 2014-15 Budget will be released on May 6.
