A government car with Premier Denis Napthine on board has run over an East West Link protester’s foot.

Channel Ten aired footage on Wednesday afternoon of protesters trying to block the car with the premier inside as it leaves an underground car park.

As the car tries to leave the protesters surround the vehicle and one of the protester’s foot appears to be run over by the car.

Dr Napthine was leaving a meeting when his car was surrounded. The incident took place in Smith Street, Collingwood around 1.45pm.

Dr Napthine’s office claimed the protesters jumped onto the car and hit it with placards, Channel Ten reported.

The protester was taken to hospital in a stable condition with a suspected fractured foot. Police are investigating the incident, Channel Ten reported.
