Metropolitan Ring Road ‘missing link’ No.1 priority, says RACV

Herald Sun: Metropolitan Ring Road ‘missing link’ No.1 priority, says RACV

The RACV has called on the Federal Government to fund the “missing link’’ Metropolitan Ring Road completion, listing it as a number one priority.

In its pre-Budget submission lodged before this week’s deal to end the East West Link, the peak roads body says the completion of the Metropolitan Ring Road would cost about $6 billion.

It listed it as its top priority, followed by a $1 billion upgrade of the M80 Western Ring Rd. The East West Link was placed third.

RACV general manager of public policy Brian Negus said the axing of the East West Link was “unfortunate’’ and he urged the State and Federal governments to instead build the missing link in Melbourne’s outer east.
