In the next month Infrastructure Australia will make its recommendation to the Minister on whether or not to give $30 million to the Baillieu government to pursue its East-West Link proposal – a multi-billion dollar tollway and road-tunnel that will put more cars on our congested roads and direct much-needed money away from where it is most needed: better public transport. The Minister is responsible for the final decision. Send a message to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister Albanese, to urge him to fund cleaner, smarter public transport options over tollways. And make sure you sign the petition.
1. Send a message to Minister Albanese Send a message to Minister Albanese that we want sustainable public transport that is accessible and affordable for everyone. We don’t want a polluting tollway and tunnel through our neighbourhoods that chains us to the petrol bowser as fuel prices continue to rise. Adam will hand deliver your letter to the Minister along with the hundreds of others we are collecting. Click here to send a message to Minister Albanese.
2. Sign the petition The petition calls upon the federal government to fund better public transport, not private roads and tunnels through Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. The petition is sponsored by Greens MP Adam Bandt and will be tabled in the federal parliament. We have a target of 300 signatures – help us reach our target! To sign the petition click here.
Yours sincerely
